Hi all,

I'm new! I love listening to music especially when I wake up and in the car. I have a long list of my favourite songs just because they have beautiful lyric. Anyways, I have a simple question as I'm looking for the name and the singer of these 2 songs. For the first one, I think it's called 'All of my life' and is the soundtrack of a movie called "Tussie". I don't know who the singer is. A part of the lyric says...

"Wishing there would be some1 waiting home for me.
Something is telling me it might be you.
All of my life."

And the other one is a little faster. A part of the lyric says..
"It must be love..love, love.
Nothing more, nothing less,
love is the best."

Does that sound familiar? Please help! Thanks!

a friend of mine asked me to spread the word...
ok so i have a friend on lj whose name is monkey3 he is a writer and is currently seeking comments and suggestions on his poetry and the current short story he is writing. he asked me to ask others to read the poems he has posted on lj, and the short story he is working on and comment on them, and give him any criticism, good or bad, that you think would either encourage or help his writing. i know most of you are really into music, but i also feel that music and poetry go hand in hand, so check it out, for those of you who are musicians you might get inspired (or not), but at any rate i find them to be quite good. anyway, sorry if this bugs, but thank you to those of you who check it out. BTW if you check it out and make comments tell him i sent you so he doesn't think your wierd...

*hugs*

Ever notice that for those who love music, there is always music playing in the background of their lives? The reason I am contemplating this is because I keep thinking back to my past, but instead of recalling the memories, I recall the songs. It is the songs which inspire joy and sadness, because they remind me of those things that happened. For example, even two years after the fact, I cannot hear "Where Are You Going" by the Dave Matthews Band without crying because it was playing after my boyfriend broke up with me, when I started the car and as I drove away. It was a moment where the song, the situation and the mood perfectly matched and it makes me so sad to hear it, because of that.

Ahh Denis Leary...
sometimes he still amazes me, no matter how many time i hear this song, i still end up laughin till i cry.

[Spoken]
Folks, I'd like to sing a song about the American Dream. About me. About you. The way our American hearts beat down in the bottom of our chests. About the special
feeling we get in the cockles of our hearts, maybe below the cockles, maybe in the sub-cockle area. Maybe in the liver. Maybe in the kidneys. Maybe even in the colon,
we don't know.

I'm just a regular Joe with a regular job
I'm your average white suburbanite slob
I like football and porno and books about war
I've got an average house with a nic hardwood floor
My wife and my job, my kids and my car
My feet on my table, and a cuban cigar

But sometimes that just ain't enough to keep a man like me interested
(Oh no) No Way (Uh-uh)
No, I've gotta go out and have fun
At someone else's expense
(Oh yeah) Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

I drive really slow in the ultrafast lane
While people behind me are going insane

I'm an asshole (He's an asshole, what an asshole)
I'm an asshole (He's an asshole, such an asshole)

I use public toilets and piss on the seat
I walk around in the summertime saying, "How about this heat?"

I'm an asshole (He's an asshole, what an asshole)
I'm an asshole (He's the world's biggest asshole)

Sometimes I park in handicapped spaces
While handicapped people make handicapped faces

I'm an asshole (He's an asshole, what an asshole)
I'm an asshole (He's a real fucking asshole)

Maybe I shouldn't be singing this song
Ranting and raving and carrying on
Maybe they're right when they tell me I'm wrong

Naaaah!

I'm an asshole (He's an asshole, what an asshole)
I'm an asshole (He's the world's biggest asshole)

[Spoken]
You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna get myself a 1967 Cadillac El Dorado convertible, hot pink with whaleskin hub caps and all leather cow interior and big brown
baby seal eyes for headlights, yeah! And I'm gonna drive around in that baby at 115mph getting one mile per gallon, sucking down quarter pounder cheese burgers from
McDonald's in the old-fashioned non-biodegradable styrofoam containers and when I'm done sucking down those grease ball burgers, I'm gonna wipe my mouth with the
American flag and then I'm gonna toss the styrofoam container right out the side and there ain't a God damned thing anybody can do about it. YOu know why? Because
we got the bombs, that's why.

[Spoken]
Two words. Nuclear fucking weapons, okay?! Russia, Germany, Romania - they can have all the Democracy they want. They can have a big democracy cake-walk
right through the middle of Tiananmen square and it won't make a lick of difference because we've got the bombs, okay?! John Wayne's not dead - he's frozen. And as
soon as we find the cure for cancer we're gonna thaw out the duke and he's gonna be pretty pissed off. You know why? Have you ever taken a cold shower? Well
multiple that by 15-million times, that's how pissed off the Duke's gonna be. I'm gonna get the Duke and John Cassavetes...
(Hey)
and Lee Marvin
(Hey)
and Sam Pekinpah
(Hey)
And a case of Whiskey and drive down to Texas...
(Hey, you know you really are an asshole)
Why don't you just shut-up and sing the song pal!

I'm an asshole (He's an asshole, what an asshole)
I'm an asshole (He's the world's biggest asshole)

A-S-S-H-O-L-E Everybody! A-S-S-H-O-L-E

[Barking]
Arf Arf Arf Arf Arf Arf Arf
Fung achng tum a fung tum a fling chum
Oooh Oooh

[Spoken]
I'm an asshole and proud of it!

Oasis- Don't look Back in Anger
Slip inside the eye of your mind
Don't you know you might find
A better place to play
You said that you'd once never been
All the things that you've seen
Will slowly fade away

So I'll start the revolution from my bed
Cos you said the brains I had went to my head
Step outside the summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

So Sally can wait, she knows its too late as we're walking on by
Her soul slides away, but don't look back in anger I hear you say

Take me to the place where you go
Where nobody knows if it's night or day
Please don't put your life in the hands
Of a Rock n Roll band
Who'll throw it all away

So I'll start the revolution from my bed
Cos you said the brains I had went to my head
Step outside the summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

So Sally can wait, she knows its too late as we're walking on by
Her soul slides away, but don't look back in anger I hear you say

Don't look back in anger
Don't look back in anger
Don't look back in anger
At least not today

I love this song... I just wanted to share what I think is the most sincere love song ever.
This Must be the Place (Naive Melody)
-------------------------------------------------

Home is where I want to be
Pick me up and turn me round
I feel numb - burn with a weak heart
(So I) guess I must be having fun
The less we say about it the better
Make it up as we go along
Feet on the ground
Head in the sky
It's ok I know nothing's wrong . . nothing

Hi yo I got plenty of time
Hi yo you got light in your eyes
And you're standing here beside me
I love the passing of time
Never for money
Always for love
Cover up + say goodnight . . . say goodnight

Home - is where I want to be
But I guess I'm already there
I come home - -she lifted up her wings
Guess that this must be the place
I can't tell one from another
Did I find you, or you find me?
There was a time Before we were born
If someone asks, this where I'll be . . . where I'll be

Hi yo We drift in and out
Hi yo sing into my mouth
Out of all tose kinds of people
You got a face with a view
I'm just an animal looking for a home
Share the same space for a minute or two
And you love me till my heart stops
Love me till I'm dead
Eyes that light up, eyes look through you
Cover up the blank spots
Hit me on the head Ah ooh

HI, i'm new ^_^
I'm in love with this song, and to me the lyrics are very deep and important.
please share with me what you think the artist was singing even if its obvious to you or if, for you, there is something deeper than what you read - thank you

Placebo- Plasticine

Beauty lies inside the eye of another youthful dream
That doesn't sell it's soul for self-esteem
That's not plasticine
Beauty lies inside desire and every wayward heart redeemed
That doesn't sell it's soul for self-esteem
That's not plasticine

Don't forget to be the way you are

The only thing you can rely on is that you can't rely on anything
Don't go and sell your soul for self-esteem
Don't be plasticine

Don't forget to be the way you are
And don't forget to be the way you are
The way you are...

I Think this song means that You can't change yourself so willingly for others, because the self isn't like clay that can be molded. Your not a piece of plasticine, your a human being. Complex and beautiful in your own complexities "Don't forget to be the way you are."

New Here, weird lyrics
New here, I'm Danielle and I generally like obscure and poetic lyrics (or obscurely poetic, that always works)
Here's some lyrics from a band called Dir en Grey...It's off of their new abum, Vulgar. The song is called Marmalade Chainsaw. It isn't fitted like a poem in the translated lyrics booklet, only like a paragraph. Please bear with me...

You're a monkey, looking all honest all over the wall. One Twelve Two Eleven Three Ten Four Nine Death Thirteen. Shoot the guys who are just talk. Am I insane? Is society please? Suck suck suck 'em all until the end mine death thirteen. It becomes reality as my wrist pricks. Ain't f*ckin' around. Mouth to mouth. Can't hear the cry of the newborn baby, Honye looks down on the scaffold. Stuffed inside the refrigerator is a sacrificed flower. It's the highly praised Serial Horror Show. Nobody's hell like mine. You're a Dancing Majestic Baby. The works of orange is Thirteen. Nobody's hell like mine. You're a Screaming Majestic Baby. A clockwork of Death Thirteen. Let's play with the chainsaw SUCK ME Living honestly is my good point and I have no bad points to my personality. One Twelve Two Eleven Three Ten Four Nine Death Thirteen. Shoot him who just screamed. Am I insane? Is society pleased? Suck suck suck 'em all until the end mine death thirteen. It becomes reality as my wrist pricks. Ain't f*ckin' around. Nobody's hell like mind. You're a Dancing Majestic Baby. The works of orange is Thirteen. Nobody's hell like mind. You're a Screaming Majestic Baby. A clockwork of Death Thirteen.

Mind you, these are THEIR translations. I'm still looking for some others to compare.

So what do you think is being described in these? It might be some story lyrics, of which Dir en Grey has many of.
Sorry if I scared you.

The end.

Sheryl Crow - Strong Enough from the album Tuesday Night Music Club
She has changed a lot since she put out this album. She has gone from ballads to a more solid rock sound. I still love her music, but I think this song will always be my favorite of hers.

God, I feel like hell tonight
Tears of rage I cannot fight
I'd be the last to help you understand
Are you strong enough to be my man?

Nothings true and nothings right
So let me be alone tonight
Cause you can't change the way I am
Are you strong enough to be my man?

Lie to me
I promise I'll believe
Lie to me
But please don't leave

I have a face I cannot show
I make the rules up as I go
It's try and love me if you can
Are you strong enough to be my man?

When I've shown you that I just don't care
When I'm throwing punches in the air
When I'm broken down and I can't stand
Will you be man enough to be my man?

Lie to me
I promise I'll believe
Lie to me
But please don't leave

I remember the music video because it was black and white and it had a scene of her pacing back and for on top of an unmade bed. She looked very frustrated in that scene. Hope you enjoy this song as much as I do.

I'm a sucker for sad love songs. Here's a good one:

Is There Life After Love?
by Shania Twain

If every road had a rainbow
and every wish had a star
every tear had a shoulder to cry on,
and every night had guitars.
But every fool is a lonely fool,
and such a fool am I.
Cuz every night I think of you,
and evey night I die..

Chorus:Is there life after love?
Some things aren't certain,
and somethings I'm sure of
Like angels in heaven
and God up above
But is there life after love?

That's just the first verse of it, I would do the whole thing but I don't have any time.

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could help me find out the name of a song...the only lyrics I know are "too proud to...all I know is that you and I were meant to be"
It's played a lot on my alternative/rock/pop station in the Detroit area, I think it's fairly new, but I have no idea. If anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Devo - Planet Earth
Of course I've got tons of favorite songs etc.. not all with that much or great lyrics tho, but one of my favorite bands has always been DEVO, and they really has great lyrics. Nice rhymes, and they could be interpret in 2 or 3 ways.

Planet Earth.

I heard a girl in a dress
say her face was a mess
I heard there's no reason why
I heard that now's the time to buy

* On Planet Earth
I'll probably stay
On Planet Earth
It's a place to live your life
Where pleasure follows pain
People go insane
Fly around in planes
Pray that it won't rain
Drive around in cars
Get drunk in local bars
Dream of being stars
Well I lived all my life
On Planet Earth*

I saw a girl who's out of control
When she lost her new mink stole
I saw her try to catch a man
Things I couldn't understand

Repeat * - *

I saw a man on a stage
Scream, "Put me back in my cage!"
I saw him hang by his tie
I saw enough to make my cry
On planet Earth

**On Planet Earth
(I lived all my life)
(I lived all my life)**

Repeat ** - ** 3 times.

This is maybe one of DEVO's most frank songs. They've always been about exposing things, and encourage people to do something. To fight all the bad things in this world. "You must whip it, Now whip it into shape, shape it up, get straight, go forward, move ahead, Try to detect it, It's not too late" to quote their must famous song. (Whip It).

What's the Frequency Kenneth by: REM
"What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine,
uh-huh
I was brain-dead, locked out, numb, not up to speed
I thought I'd pegged you an idiot's dream
Tunnel vision from the outsider's screen
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
You wore our expectations like an armored suit, uh-huh

I'd studied your cartoons, radio, music, tv, movies,
magazines
Richard said, "Withdrawal in disgust is not the same
as apathy"
A smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth
You said that irony was the shackles of youth
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh

"What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine,
uh-huh
Butterfly decal, rearview mirror, dogging the scene
You smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth
You said that irony was the shackles of youth
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
You wore our expectations like an armored suit, uh-huh
I couldn't understand
You said that irony was the shackles of youth, uh-huh
I couldn't understand
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I couldn't understand
I never understood, don't fuck with me, uh-huh
(it's time I had some time alone.)

I love this song. It's my fav by this band. There are two comments I would like to make on this one. The first comment is about the first line. I think it's an odd line really. I had to look up Benzedrine. It's a trademark or brand name of amphetamine. I guess that means that "what's the frequency kenneth" is some kind of a verbal drug. I thought this a very odd statement. I also want to take time to laugh at the last line. After all how many people think he's saying "I don't understand the frequency uh-huh"? I know I always did, and the radios must as well because they don't edit that part. Anyway give it a listen sometime. I really enjoy this song as well as this band.
